Strategic Environmental Assessment

Strategic Environmental Assessment is a decision-making tool used to identify likely significant effects on the environment within the planning process.

Sustainability Appraisal

Sustainability Appraisal is a systematic process to assess the social, environmental and economic effects of plans, strategies and policies, seeking to promote sustainable development.

Habitats Regulations Assessment

Habitats Regulations Assessment is the process of assessing the potential effects of a plan or project on the conservation objectives of European designated sites, known collectively as the ‘Natura 2000 Network’.

Green Infrastructure

Green Infrastructure is a strategically planned network of natural and semi-natural areas with other environmental features designed and managed to deliver a wide range of ecosystem services.

Landscape Character Assessment

Landscape character can be defined as the recognisable and consistent pattern of features in a landscape, distinguishing one landscape from another, giving a locality its sense of place.

Landscape Ecology

Landscape ecology is the cornerstone of emerging UK ecology policy and aims to plan for ecology at the landscape scale.

Expert Witness

The Examination in Public is led by a Planning Inspector who will identify the matters and issues affecting the plan’s soundness. These will provide the focus for the examination.
